Too lazy to check, but isn’t there some kind of suggestion list for new users that recommends searching for a topic first to see if it’s been previously discussed? That may be why so many zombie threads come forth. ---

I think 99% of regular SDMB posters; - are sophisticated enough to not knowingly resurrect a zombie, - know to look at the date before replying, - are familiar enough with old threads and especially old posters to quickly recognize a zombie. My impression is that most zombies are resurrected by non- or new members, someone who came across it in a Google search. ETA: Does **Knowed Out** ’s list exist? Won’t catch 'em all but it’s a start. ---

But when someone starts a new thread on a subject that has been ‘done before’ we always get a post with links to those threads chastising the OP. So know new threads, unless it is truly a unique subject. (no threads on old stuff) ---

I saw this thread while searching for something completely unrelated. It has been now been taunting me all day, like a big red button with a huge sign saying “DO NOT PUSH THIS BUTTON.” I’m pushing the button. I am unleashing my inner necromancer to make the dead live again! All stand in awe! Or you can just point and laugh at the idiot. I’m expecting more of the latter, actually … but I don’t care, because it feels good to finally push that big red button. ---
