You’re talking to the guy who started a thread asking why the hell social security recipients are receiving stimulus checks during pandemic shutdowns when they are as close to having guaranteed income as exists in this world.

For anybody who doesn’t remember, that was the same guy who got his ass absolutely handed to him in the Boomer-bashing thread that he started about stimulus checks for Social Security recipients.

The point of stimulus payments is to, y’know, stimulate the economy. It’s actually not designed to help individuals per se.

So giving a one off payment to everyone under a certain threshold encourages spending straight away, and we all know that the poorer people will rub their hands with glee and like, buy stuff, or get their car fixed, or maybe even splurge out and get a script filled that they were unable to before.

Australia gave everyone $900 at the start of the GFC and this measure alone was reputed to have prevented us going into recession unlike the many other countries who suffered considerable economic pain.

The OP doesn’t seem to understand that people who are making over $7,000 per month, and have lost no income at all, are still getting stimulus checks. If they are getting them, then there is absolutely no reason at all for Social Security recipients to not get them.
