It’s okay, really. At least now there’s “another side” to the story. Before, I didn’t know who felt **how** about **what** , and now I do - kinda. What I “see” from reading this thread, is that I shouldn’t worry: The Dope will always be here, and what I also see is “If they wanna leave, let 'em!” Is that pretty much the “picture”? But (if I am correct in what I read), why should **anyone** have to leave? There is dissent, yes. And it has to do with rules, I understand that. But what is trickling out of the “New Pit Rules” thread, is leaking over into every other part of the Dope, and it is causing some very good people to re-think why they’re here. And y’all don’t think that needs fixing? Because what I get from reading this thread is a “Let 'em eat cake” mentality, and that surprises me a bit, coming from people who are **there** for their SDMB friends who are hurting, and may need a hand. Okay, I have my “knickers in a twist”, but it’s just because I give a damn, and I found some folks who care about me. And I don’t want to lose a single one of them if this can be worked out. ---

**Quasimodem** , speaking just for myself, with no intention at all to interpret other people’s motivations for appearing in this thread, I just posted here mainly because I’m oblivious to the uproar elsewhere on SDMB. I’m not taking any sides in whatever it is. I’m not invested in it. I avoid the Pit because I don’t see the point of the bitching, moaning, gnashing of teeth, cussing others out and all of that. I spent more time there today playing around with the Ignore List extravaganza, which has been a total scream, than I have since I joined up in 2003. If things mellow out some more, I may sneak in for other threads where the tone is less blood-pressure-raising. But I’m into fun and games and crazy stuff and an occasional semi-serious topic as long as people treat the issue with some mutual respect. Otherwise, I’m just over here watching the tea party and whittling on a Bowie knife. ---

I think you’re a little like me, **Quasimodem** , in that you’d like everybody to get along - but it just isn’t possible. You can’t make it happen and it wouldn’t be a good thing if you could and did. People have the right to object to the rules and they don’t have to wait and see how things play out even if you and I think that’s the more rational option, by far.
