Is “pedantic” that ten-dollar word that means “factual but not particularly relevant in this context?” 'Cos if so, then yeah, it would be pedantic.

“Message Board” may be the name, but “discussion board” is the purpose.

Actually, in this case it’s not even factual.

A message board is an online discussion area in which users with similar interests discuss topics. These conversations or discussions are available in the form of posted messages.

Exactly like…discussions.
