In my opinion starting a thread with “so” is a useful way to indicate the tone of the thread. Kind of like like chapter titles in old books that started with “In which…” I’d say thread titles are a bit like chapter titles and that makes them fair game for the “So…” gambit.

I’m guilty. I confess though that I am unlikely to change much. I also speak this way.
As for me, I’m annoyed with the posts that are just a link and the words “Check this out.” Tell us what we are checking out and why.
Also, as I mentioned in the mini-rant thread: Atheists that pop into every thread related to religion to say *There is no God (or Angels, or whatever) *annoy me.
Three of the last ten threads I started began with “So.” Sue me.
So I came by this thread and I realized that I do this a lot. So I have decided to change this habit which is apparently annoying the OP so much. So I guess I have to come up with another opening sentence for my posts, without so much so being annoying.
So I came up with a brilliant idea. And so here it begins, the SDMB Unofficial Random First Sentence for your Post so that you don’t have to open your first sentence without a ‘so’! So hang on while I code the generator. So long!
