The story is about the heads of two feuding families who meet in the woods while disputing the ownership of a piece of land. A tree falls and pins them down without injuring them. At first they keep cussing each other out, but then they start to talk, and amazingly, resolve their differences and then make plans to have their families visit each other when they are rescued. One sees the figures of their rescuers approaching, but the other, having better eyesight, utters the dispairing line about the wolves.
