I will nominate any thread that starts with “Am I the only person who…” Yes. You are the only person in the entire universe who doesn’t like the Simpsons anymore/freezes soup to eat later/didn’t watch the Oscars. I know it’s just a figure of speech, but it’s a stupid figure of speech and it annoys me. ---

Threads that start, “Am I the only one who…” The answer is always no. Regardless of what the rest of the sentence is - “Am I the only one who likes sucking toes?” “Am I the only one who licks babies heads when mothers aren’t looking?” “Am I the only one who eats raw chicken with grape jam?” there is ALWAYS someone who will join in and agree with you. Sometimes I think this board is linked to “Fringeoddballs dot com”. Also, when people ask, "Is there anything to do in [fill in blank of large city]? Seriously, if you can’t think of anything to do when you visit London, Paris, New York, Rome or similar large city, you probably shouldn’t be spending money to go there. I can understand if you are going to Butte, Montana or Tempe, Arizona - even locals ask that question - but when visiting one of the major world city that attracts tourists around the world, and a place that has thousands of guide books available online, it just seems kind of silly to ask, “Is there anything to do there?” At least ask if there are any secret, special out-of-the-ordinary things to do/see/experience. Otherwise, do you really need someone to point out that Buckingham Palace is in London? ---

I think people do change their minds on gun rights, although probably not because of threads on the subject. What I’d like to see stop is those silly thinly veiled sort of “analogy” threads that are obviously serving a gross purpose of allowing the OP to say “Aha! Gotcha! But those people still need to tell us what do they like and dislike, if we’re to point them at stuff they may like. If someone tells me they hate architecture I won’t send them to the Sagrada Familia, if someone tells me they hate sports I won’t send them to Camp Nou, if someone tells me they can’t stand crowds I won’t point them to Las Ramblas.
