Recently I have noted that occasionally when I respond to a thread and then go back to the forum list, the thread with my most recent response is not listed at the top of the forum list. When I click on the thread title, my post is there. I first noticed this about a month or so ago. Anyone else notice this? Anyone know why this is? ---

I thought I’d post an example, but now when I go to ATMB I can’t find this thread. Only got here through the back arrow. (I REALLY hate when I do something on my computer the same way I always do it, and obtain a different result! :mad:) Anyhoo, in [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=523941), I posted an answer at 8 a.m. today, but even after refreshing the forum list, it is located per the response yesterday evening. Have I missed something about “guests’” posts being delayed for some reason? DOesn’t seem to occur consistently. ---

Okay, now this thread, and the GQ thread appear where I expect them to. Seems to be just a temporary, occasional “hiccup”. ---

Sometimes it takes a moment or two or a little longer for the system to update. This is true of any listing on the board including posts themselves, post counts, etc. It’s unpredictable and not understood why this happens but we know that it does. Usually after a short while – which could be a few moments, a handful of seconds, and sometimes a few achingly long minutes – the system gets its act together and everything ticks over okay. Just takes a little longer sometimes, it’s not a seamless perfect procedure. Like life. ---

Cool. I don’t always check to see that what I posted appears, just assume that it does. But occasionally when I go from a response back to the forum list I notice that my post does not appear. And even tho my offerings are far from earthshattering, at times I wonder whether my efforts to express myself were for naught. Yet, I wish to avoid double-posting. ---

Are you using the back button to get back to the forum list, from your post? I’ve found that the back arrow takes you to where you were before you entered the thread, so until you do something that updates the forum screen, you will see an old snap shot. If you are using the back button, try updating and see if that fixes things. ---

It’s happening to me right now. Neither refreshing nor bringing up the board from scratch in a new window shows me anything newer than 10:05 AM, including the thread I just relplied to. It is now 10:23 AM. ---

It may be an example of the phenomenon being complained about in [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=517304) ATMB thread; the latest responses don’t show up, and quoting doesn’t even work for the more recent posts. Often for quite some time; half hour, an hour. ---

It’s happening to me too: I just started a new thread and it’s not showing at all, and responded to another thread where the last two responses (including my own) are not evident on the main page. This has never happened before, I suggest that there is something quite amiss at the moment. (kam holds breath and hopes that THIS post comes up) Hopefully. ---

It does appear the system healed itself and life went on. I’m sorry if you were inconvenienced.
