…Oh, no, you strictly rent them. You see it goes back to when the Brits were in India, and they would want to escape the pre monsoon heat in lovely Kashmir. The Raja of Kashmir didn’t want the Brits owning land in his territory. Sooo… they build these elaborate, 3 bdrm, beautifully carved, with a full bath, houseboats. They don’t actually go anywhere, just stay there attached to the shore, I mean, they have electric and hot water! They come complete with houseboys to raise and lower the blinds and serve dinner, silver service don’t you know. And there is a lovely carved bow with a little balcony you can sit on and watch the man powered shikara boats loaded with flowers or chocolates or fruit, they come to you. How civilised. Oh yeah, and they have a hashish vendor as well,just in case the magnificent sunset over the Mongal gardens isn’t enough for you. Admit it, it’s lovely, isn’t it? ---

\*\*Jester[B/]'s obvious homage to The Crocodile Hunter makes me think of the FedEx commercial running now, starring that guy (whose name I cannot remember). Anybody seen it? He gets bitten by a fear snake, and tells the camera that it’s okay, they had some antivenom sent in via FedEx. Then he’s notified that they DIDN’T use FedEx, and the stuff isn’t here yet. He keels over. Cracks me up. Think we could throw a fear snake on SoT?
