As I understand it: 1. Bluesky, on a daily viewers basis, may be approaching Threads all of a sudden. We’ll have to see whether that remains true. 2. The value for content creators is, likewise (?), approaching parity very quickly. 3. Bluesky appeals to a different group for a different purpose, and the sort of person here is probably going to be more interested in Bluesky. I’d also be curious whether the Threads counts are cheating a bit since Meta forces Threads on you as part of the Instagram browsing experience. ---

I am on Bluesky now. I never really used Twitter much, and I probably won’t be using Bluesky much either, but the little bit of time I spent on there seemed pleasant. I found a few celebrities to follow and I’m following a couple of sports teams also. It feels like a less-toxic version of Twitter at the moment. ---

I think the _quality_ of the users is the difference, not the quantity. Sure, Stephen King went to Threads, but almost everyone else went to Bluesky. ---

That’s my guess. I suspect a lot of people have a threads account but never actually use it, because they use Facebook and Instagram and it just sort of happened to them. Whereas people on Bluesky were looking for a twitter alternative. ---

Bluesky is not run by anyone. It is self sufficient and is running off of funding from investors. The originators are former Twitter employees. ---
