[This story](http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/iraq/sns-ap-war-pows-hero,1,6918557.story?coll=chi%2Dhomepage%2Dfea) just made my day. It really does my heart good to know that, in the midst of this horrible situation, one man followed his conscience and, risking his own life, did a great act. And he’s a lawyer. All I can say is Thank You, Mohammed. May your life be long and full of joy.

That man is amazingly brave. I am glad that he and his family are now out of harm’s way, along with PFC Lynch.

Just to add my own comment. For those who grew up in western democracies, or any other kind of democracies, your admiration of this man would go up tenfold if you had had the mistfortune of growing up in a repressive dictatorship, like Iraq.
This man did something, that he knew, not feared, not thought, he knew would get him killed. He knew it would get his family killed, every single one. He knew his death, if discovered, would be slow and painful. And he still did it. Because he tought it was the right thing. It’s more than courageous, it’s downright saintly.

Absolutely. I was reading this in the paper while I waited to get my hair cut this morning. I was nearly visibly shaking with terror on his behalf as I read the steps he took. A brave and gripping tale.

He and his family have safely been relocated to a camp in the coalition-controlled southern part of Iraq. It is also my understanding that he would someday like to meet Pfc. Lynch.
What a saintly thing to do on his part.

I wonder if this man really appreciates the magnitude of his actions. His reward for doing what he did appears to consist of getting himself and his immediate family stuffed into a refugee camp. The sad thing is, he seems to be happy with that.
The truly selfless and heroic never seem to realize how special they are.
Do you think he knows that he might be the most popular man in America right now?
Maybe he and Pvt. Lynch could collaborate on a book deal.

This is one of those situations that you wonder if you would have the “intestinal fortitude” to do the same thing knowing the possible consequences.
I don’t know if I would have, but I’m glad that he did.
