Three Things in Common
When you guess an answer to a trio, you should use you own judgment about going ahead and posting the next trio. If you are confident, go ahead. (Sometimes trios have more than one solution - any that results in 3 common phrases should be accepted) Sometimes though, you’ll be confident that your answer works for 2 of the words, but think the 3rd one is iffy - just post your answer and await clarification from the person who listed the trio before posting the next puzzle.

Errrr..Beware of Doug? It’s been 23 hours, so I’m going to go ahead & post a new one, because I think “out” probably qualifies even if it isn’t as clever as the intended answer.
New one:
Hill, club, pound.

Good try all. The word I was thinking of was built.
Overbuilt = stronger than it needs to be; stickbuilt = a wood-frame structure that is not prefab; scratchbuilt = anything made from raw materials.
Wheel?
Paper, quarterback, cloth.
Yes, wheel was correct.
Hill, club, pound.
Foot.

Bear, Jet, Globe.

Well, that was quick…
I’ll try harder next time.

(Mwahahahahaa!)
I wouldn’t have gotten it had pound not been last. “Footpound?” I asked myself. “What the hell is a footpound?”

Stupid Imperial units…
Foot.

Bear, Jet, Globe.
Only thing I can think of for globe is “master” - Globemaster cargo plane…

Not to give things away, but:
Bear, Jet, Globe.
Golden Bear – Jack Nicklaus
Golden Jet – Bobby Hull
Golden Globe – Award

Penny, Fast, Patty

never mind
Penny, Fast, Patty
Penny Lane
Fast Lane
Patty Lane (I googled this and it was Patty Duke’s character’s name on The Patty Duke Show.) Is there another Patty Lane?

an easy one:

hawk
corner
hello
Golden Bear – Jack Nicklaus
Golden Jet – Bobby Hull
Golden Globe – Award

Penny, Fast, Patty
Lane?

Cat, Bowling, Oop.

ETA: Sorry, didn’t see you added one Dolores, and replied. :o
hawk
corner
hello
Kitty.

How about:

off, poor, plate
Cat, Bowling, Oop.
Alley.

And I won’t post another since we’ve already got one.
off, poor, plate
Got a good one here…lots of 2-out-of-3s (piss off/piss poor; off book/bookplate)…probably only one 3-out-of-3 and I ain’t hit on it yet.

work off, plate work … working poor?

So as not to scuttle the thread, I’m going to give the answer here, because I’ve come to think my submission was a little unfair. The answer is “face,” but I now realize that the the phrase “poor face” is a bit iffy. It’s not nearly as common as its derivative, “po-face.”

I’ll give another one that I hope is better:

cats, pink, ball

Eye.
Treasure, Hope, Pain
Penny Lane
Fast Lane
Patty Lane (I googled this and it was Patty Duke’s character’s name on The Patty Duke Show.) Is there another Patty Lane?
There might be, but Cathy’s identical cousin was indeed the character I was thinking of.

Treasure chest, hope chest, chest pain.

Brakes, dead, pocket
Eye.
Treasure, Hope, Pain
Chest.

light, jam, heavy.
