_San Pedro Beach Bums,_ in IMAX. There, I said it. No movie remake of _Three’s Company_ will ever succeed…because it won’t have Norman Fell’s classic mugging to the camera after he zings Audra Lindley. 🆒 Though I might give the movie props if they recreate what has to be the best pie fight since _The Great Race_… ---

I proposed on an earlier thread something like _Life with Elizabeth: The Movie_. It’s about the same character that Betty White played from 1953 to 1955 (and intermittently on some sketches before that). It’s about a woman who’s been widowed for 48 years. As a young married woman she was a free-spirited type, but after her husband died she became a recluse. I would love for someone to do to a show like Three’s Company (and other lightweight 60’s/70’s comedies) what they did to Battlestar Galactica. Make them all gritty and dark, like Sherwood Swartz meets Vince Gilligan. Imagine finally finding out what happened to the ‘other’ parents on The Brady Bunch; maybe Jan finding her father’s corpse would explain her problems, etc. The castaways on Gilligan’s Island tempted with cannibalization; the sadistic abuses of Mr. Roper that he heaps upon the roomies too. ---

I like it, BlueOhio. _Vince Gilligan’s Island_ where the castaways all start out getting along and working together on getting rescued, but personal conflict and selfishness gradually strain the relationships and eventually they turn on each other, with the members from the various huts plotting and scheming against one another as they each get more desperate for the limited resources on the island. So a lot of the comedy revolved around Tripper trying to land women (not the roommates), and at the same time keep up this gay act, or the girls trying to cover for him. The rest of the show was about Suzanne Somers’ boobs from what I recall. ---

The second episode, and maybe one or two others, they let Chrissy use her brain. She puts on bedroom eyes and talks in double entenre, and gestures with her long fingernails. Smokin’ hot, in her element, totally in control, and dropping smart one-liners better than Jack Ritter. If you’re watching a bunch of episodes, look out for these. Its what the show could have been, if people in the '70’s could have handled it. The one to watch for is the one where she’s dating special guest star Dick York. ---
