That’s right, maroons. Looney Tunes is returning to Cartoon Network starting this Sunday, the 15th, for a six-hour marathon, starting at 1:00 P.M., ET. The following day, it will run for an hour every weekday from 11:00 A.M. until noon.

Wonderful!

As a side note, Mel’s son is pretty good, but his Daffy Duck is different enough that you still notice. He was one of a kind.

Actually, Warner Brothers’ go-to-guy for the Looney Tunes voices seems to be [Joe Alaskey.](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0016085/) He started off playing Yosemite Sam in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?,” has played Sylvester and Tweety in “The Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries,” Bugs and Daffy in “Looney Tunes Back in Action,” and starred as Daffy and Marvin the Martian in the “Duck Dodgers” TV series.

Here’s a [video interview](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MegEuHcONJk) in which Alaskey gets into character.

Sweet! This will be a must-have on my DRV. I see from a [blog](http://forums.goldenagecartoons.com/showthread.php?t=14002) that one of my all-time favorites (Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century) will be during the first hour.

You have truly performed your good deed for the day, **cochrane**.

About Damn Time. As long as they are the classic ones, and not some new-fangled (post-1965ish) ones.

I take it they left because of the WB Network.

I agree. cochrane’s cite described them as “classic” episodes, so I’m hoping they’re from the Golden Age.

They still might be the bowdlerized versions, though. There better be violence.

I think you mean post-1966, the last of the original run of Coyote & Road Runner shorts.

If Daffy’s getting shot in the face, I want to _see_ Daffy getting shot in the face. Only pansies and their weaker younger siblings need the censored versions.

Just bumping this to remind everyone that the Looney Tunes marathon has already started if you’re in the East. For those on the Left Coast, it starts at 1:00 P.M. It becomes an hourly part of CN’s programming tomorrow at 11.

I’m enjoying the marathon, but the commercials are disgusting. Barbie has a sister who sits on the toilet and flushes it? A baby doll that says “I made a stinky?” To say nothing of all the regular shit they’re advertising.

[Daffy’s grand finale](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEYYYMuwCyA) was cut from [Show Biz Bugs](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbW5hrc85-4), as usual.

The thing that gets me about Looney Tunes on television today is not the censorship, but the fact that they’re still using the old faded television prints and not the restored prints they made for the DVDs.

I’ve never seen that clip, but I have seen the nearly identical one about Porky Pig doing a casting for a talent agency or something like that. I wonder which came first? Since Daffy has the addition of Uranium-238 that the Porky one didn’t have, I’m tempted to say the Porky one was.

I used to watch them on CBS on Saturday mornings, and didn’t even realize there was any reason to edit anything out. The first time I saw Bugs flailing away at Elmer’s face with a straight razor in _The Rabbit of Seville_ was a real eye-opener.

I noticed a bunch of the shorts in the marathon had two copyrights for 1995 at the end. Didn’t quite catch what they were for but I assume it was restoration; first said something about audio.

Those prints have been around for a while. I believe the copyright reads to the effect of “Dubbed version ©1995 Turner Entertainment Company, Looney Tunes Characters ©1995 Warner Bros, Inc.” I’m not exactly sure what was done in those restorations, but I know one of the major things was removing the old Associated Artists syndication titles.
