“ **Pleonast** , please play by the rules - that would be better,” that’s the point I was making, and it was buried in the middle of my very first post to the game. I was taking the first opportunity to express what I consider a pretty fundamental notion: don’t take liberties.

Nearly everything I’ve said in this thread since then has been in response to demands that I further explain why it would be better for him to play by the rules of the game (which he is not doing). This has been characterized as a cop-out, as spinning, and as “motives.” The only reason I’m even still talking about it is that I’m obligated to by the pro-town instinct to keep you from lynching my own personal town ass.

My motives were that I want everyone to play by the same rules, and that I am suspicious of anybody who wants to substitute his own. I don’t want him to have the _option_ of abusing the rules. It was obviously a great tactical error to try to use my vote to enforce that preference/ convey that suspicion, but I’ll be damned if I can figure what’s scummy about it. I’m asking a serious question in that post – should we _all_ use the **Pleonast** method of voting, or would that be a bad idea? If it would be a bad idea, why’s it not a bad idea for him to do it? If it is a bad idea for him to do it, where’s the scummy profit in my trying to get him to stop?

If you want. I’m not going to but if you want to show the rest of us who you’d be willing to lynch I don’t see a problem with that. It doesn’t have any real effect on the vote count and fluid has already said, the first vote counts and any vote after that is invalid without a preceding unvote so as long as we’re paying attention, there shouldn’t be confusion. It’d be nice if he’d use another color but whatevs. My point is that I am not convinced that it necessarily is a bad idea and it’s not that you’re scummy for trying to get him to stop, the scumminess is that it’s your case against him. (Because, I mean, scum don’t care about the cases except their likelihood of getting someone lynched, you know?)

This is wrong. I think Scum might even care more about their cases because they don’t want them to get themselves lynched.

Early in the game, Town is often guessing based on very little information. Scum will be more careful so that they don’t leave a trail that points to them. Just look in most Scum threads from previous games and you’ll see discussions about who they should vote for and reasonings they should use.

I don’t think your motives are scummy, but the reason for your vote is anti-town. You need to make a case of why you think I am scum, not why you think I’m not helping town.

I’ll also note that I am following the rules–they specify exactly what votes count and which don’t.

I’m not sure why this makes any difference. An invalid vote is an invalid vote, no matter what the color is.

I am not sure that changing the color would satisfy **Jimmy** ; their point is I am trying to avoid accountability by putting my real vote among fake ones. I’d still be doing that if all my invalid votes were purple instead of blue.

I’m beginning to think that **Jimmy** ’s real problem is that I make cases against multiple players, rather than one.

Quoted in full for the bizarreness. I’m not sure why **ed** isn’t getting more attention. It’s two Days in a row they’ve made lazy votes.

**Jimmy** is making a bad case, but I think it’s from misguided towniness. **ed** is flat out voting without making cases, with minimal explanation, and the reasons they do give are poor.

I can get on board with this.

WRT Jimmy, If I were a glutton for punishment, I’d go back and see if a scum has ever been the primary instigator of a “we must lynch peeker/meeko/Pleo because he’s an anti-Town distraction” lynch/pile-on.

NETA - by which I mean being the conspicuous leader of such a movement strikes me as something Town is much more likely to do than Scum, but I haven’t gone back and done the research.

OK, despite what the vote count says, it appears that I am the lynch leader.

So, I’ll claim. I’m Tygra. I have no special import to the game.

Yes, I’ve posted nonsense hoping to get a reaction from someone about something.

Look at how Day 2 was progressing.

I suppose I should have remained quiet. We might have set a record for the game with the fewest posts.

Perhaps I was just filling the void left by peeker, although with capital letters and no nicknames.

Nonsense is annoying but not enough to vote over if you’re otherwise making cases and reasonable votes. What’s your justification for your votes?

If there’s no counterclaim by this afternoon, and depending on your answer, I’m likely to remove my vote.

I agree with Jimmy that this is something I could see a Scum Pleonast doing.

That’s about it. Until people start participating, there’s not likely to be much more.

Well, 3 of 12 is not almost everyone. We have a large amount of people that have not voted.

> proboards is that way for me, but the idlemafia pointer works well

This caught my eye. Surely **ed** knows that we all know that proboards is the scum/mason board, right? So why reference it in the middle of a game Day? Is he scum, fishing for masons or trying to nudge an MIA scumbuddy who didn’t post last Night? Or is this just random game chatter? When I first saw this, I thought it was most likely that he was himself a mason, trying to drop a breadcrumb for his co-mason on how to get to proboards during the Day, but then he claimed Tygra so that’s out.

Tygra strikes me as a good safe claim for scum – the setup thread lists it as a Thundercat that may optionally be included. So it’s got the cover of a named role, since you can make the “scum wouldn’t do that” argument about choosing a named role for a fake claim, but better than average odds that it wouldn’t be included in the game due to the lower than expected numbers.

All in all, I have to say I’m now finding **ed** about as scummy as **Pleonast**. My case on **Pleonast** rests mostly on his anti-Town multivote (which he apparently does consistently, so it’s not itself a scum tell) and his Day one cheerleading, which is suspicious but not necessarily a strong scum tell.

The only thing that’s holding me back from switching my vote is the fact that the last time I broke a tie at the last minute, I ended up lynching Town over scum and causing a cascade of well-deserved suspicion and mislynching that lost the game for Town. So I’m not exactly in love with my gut instincts right now…

Ah, screw it. I’m not the only voter here – if my logic is bad, people can outvote me.

I don’t know if it’s bad or not because I dont’ think I understand what you’re saying. Proboards is where the scum/mason boards are, so Ed mentioning it means he’s scum/mason because why? The idlemafia thing? As far as I know you can’t get to proboards via idlemafia.

Also, it’s not the last minute, and someone has to break the tie.

I’m a little shocked to see so many votes for **Jimmy** and **Pleonast** : I don’t see how either of **Jimmy’s** or **Pleonast’s** arguments about **Pleo’s** annoying voting habits is really related to their scuminess - but I’m willing to accept being wrong if it turns out to be the case.

**ed’s** behaviour has certainly been simultaneously perplexing and amusing, and the point of his claim being a pretty safe scum move holds some resonance, but I don’t have strong enough feelings about it to make the vote without feeling like I’m piling on.

nobody else has really pinged my radar toDay, so I’ll stick with yesterday’s vote for now, since **Mahaloth** hasn’t made any arguments in his defence, and I haven’t had any other reasons to suspect him less.

**vote Mahaloth**

will be reviewing the thread as much as possible between now and and of Day, in case anything changes my mind…
