I rarely see ads — I either record to watch later or pause at some point so I can fast-forward over them — but I did happen to catch one which claimed that Patty Murray was “out of step” with Washingtonians.
Really, Tiffany? “Out of step” with a state that voted to shitcan your bestie Don by [over 19 percentage points](https://results.vote.wa.gov/results/20201103/president-vice-president.html)? That Washington?
Or perhaps she means “real” Washingtonians. Who by definition don’t live around Puget Sound, and especially not in Seattle.

George Will has come out with an opinion piece in which he argues that Smiley is fixin’ to pull an upset.
Apparently people have been lying en masse to generate those polls showing her down by double digits in the race.

Some people I know have indeed concluded that polls have become useless because one of the sides, if they bother answering at all, will just lie to troll the poll.
And hey, the polls have not exactly been covering themselves in glory over the last 6 years.

On the other hand, astrophysicists have not been able to discern whether the fullest extent of the universe is larger than the breadth of human stupidity. Some significant research on the question has been done, but it has been a challenge getting funding, given that stupid is a valuable economic resource.

Sure, but, in aggregate, they’ve generally not been multi digit percentages off. And most of the problem comes from predicting who the likely voters are and in what percentages they will vote.

You don’t need a winkie, but…
Newton’s **Law** of Universal Gravitation:

So there is a Law (as ‘Law’ is defined in science) of gravity. The **Theory** of Gravity is a testable guess as to **why** it works.

Among the many, many, many enraging things about the ad. Assuming the problems were as she describes them (they’re not) and she was actually interested in solving them (she’s not) - that’s a job for King County Council or Seattle City Council. It has fuck all to do with the US Senate.
Also - the ads are clearly, clearly aimed at people who never, ever, ever go near Seattle because they are wildly misinformed about everything. People who live there know you’ve never been anywhere near the Starbucks, Tiffany. We know it’s bad greenscreening. And most importantly, we know they’re closed because the baristas unionized and they’re being punished as a warning to other shops.
On the one hand, she’s the latest in a string of “are you kidding me?” Republicans who run for statewide office every 2-4 years. But I don’t remember Culp pissing me off this much until after he lost.
