Not only has there been a good Alice movie, it was made by the same company that is making this one.

They’ve got a stranglehold on their properties and exert extremely strict control over use of it; such use has to be officially sanctioned. A friend of mine who works for their corporate legal dept. (which is most likely the entity that took the trailer down) admits this.
Evidently, their copyrights extend for all eternity.

I found the trailer here.

I think it looks great and I am excited for it to come out.

The preview looks so. fucked. up. LOVE IT!

Watching it, I was thinking I would love to see an interpretation of Alice in Wonderland done by Guillermo del Toro. I’m sure it’d be gorgeous.

Disney? I always find myself somewhat disappointed when watching that one.

From what I saw in the trailer the movie is going to be “The Mad Hatter and some girl”.
The Cheshire cat looks like a child molester on crack

(not a Burton fan)

A terrible adaptation; bleargh.

It’s the same thing, you see - except there’s no _joke_ in Disney’s version. Repeat for every thing that was clever about the books, until you want to kill yourself. _Go Disney!_

Saw some video from ComicCon of the film, and it looks astonishing! Personally, I’ve never been impressed with any of the adaptations of “Alice” that I’ve seen (though admittedly I’ve not seen all of them). But none of them seemed to capture the wit, the charm and the madness of the book. And it seems like Tim Burton might well be able to do it, that this is what his career has been leading up to.

I just saw it and from word of mouth I did not expect a lot.

Both kids liked it and an overcrowded movie theater on a Sunday afternoon was pretty quiet which means the movie did its job for the kids. There was also a lot of clapping at the end.

Now for me, I actually enjoyed it. I liked the Dormouse, I liked the Rabbit and the way it moved, I liked the Cheshire Cat, I liked Alice despite myself though her dressed as Joan of Arc was a little odd, I loved the Caterpillar and I even liked the Mad Hatter.

I was not impressed by either Queen and I do not dislike Helena Bonham Carter
and I like Anne Hathaway.

Crispin Glover was Eh.

The movie needed more Alan Rickman in my opinion.

The FX were fine.

Two thumbs down.

Also, you could really tell the difference in the 3D - I saw it at the Lincoln Center IMAX in Manhattan (which is a huge huge screen) and the 3D started to ‘flicker’ when you viewed the screen anything other than straight-ahead - which made looking at the outside edge of the screen unpleasant. After seeing Avatar on the same screen, I think you could really tell the difference in the technologies.

Addtionally, I found the characters plastic and thin. It felt like a literal translation of the book without any of the spirit.

Slays zombie Alice.

Anyone who wants to talk about the movie can open a new thread.
