When I was a kid in the 60s & 70s, Halloween was the next best thing to Christmas to us kids. We were beside ourselves with excitement to get out and trick or treat. I remember my sisters and I wanted to go out right after we ate supper, shortly after 5pm. My dad would tell us that we had to wait until it was dark to go out! Times sure were different.
