May favorite common Thai name, hands down, is **Therdsak**. Farangs (Westerners) not quite attuned to Thai pronunciations always say it as “Turd Sack.” It’s actually pronounced more like “Turd Sock,” which is almost as bad. I knew one farang over here who was accepting employment applications from Thais and really, really wanted to hire one Therdsak who applied just so he could call him “Turd” all the time. But Alas! He was not very qualified for the job. And then we have all of those ladies named **Porn** , although in reality it’s pronounced “Pawn.” There’s Porn on its own. But the common **Supaporn** sounds very close to “Super Porn.” And then there’s **Pornthip** , which conjures up all sorts of images. ---

The little girl at the pool the other month was named Jersey. Quite ugly especially if you live in NJ. Mommy mush brain kept yelling out the name at the top of her lungs as if she expected to be complimented on it. ---
