Well, it’s not quite up there with naming all your sons George, but there was a family in the neighborhood where I grew up, headed by a man named Mike. He had five kids. They were nameed Michael, Mitchell, Michelle, Mikell and Michaela. Ego trip, much? ---

I once knew of a lady whose name was Allie Bolen. In the phone book her name was listed as “Bolen, Allie.” There are also two guys around here (brothers to each other) who are car salesmen. Their last name is Wolf. Nothing unusual about that, but their first names are Gray and Timber. ---

I can think of two customers in my company’s database of names that stick out: A woman whose first name is **Coconut** and my personal favorite, **Glorious Feeling**. ---

In seventh grade, a new girl joined our class. Her name? Sunshine Beam. The little boy next to me made a lot of fun of her for that. But within a month, he was hopelessly smitten, following her around like a puppy dog 🙂 ---

The band teacher at my high school was named Maximus Starbuck Vanderbeek. I think he’s still cursing the day his full name escaped to the masses. One of my friends swears he knows a family named Caine who named their daughters Nova and Candace. It’s just plausible enough that I might…almost… Nah. ---

There’s an air force base in North Carolina named Seymour Johnson. I giggle every time they say something about Seymour Johnson in the news. A few names I’ve run across at work: Bathsheba Philpott Buck Trott Manley Midgett I’m noticing a new trend in baby names–hairstyling products. I just heard about a woman named Acquenetta. (For all of you Dopers who aren’t into hairstyling products, there’s a hairspray named Aqua Net). And then there’s Saturday Night Live’s Finesse Mitchell. This is giving me lots of ideas for the baby shower name game, where you try to come up with baby names for every letter of the alphabet. Last time, it was cheese–Colby, Muenster, etc. Next time, I’m doing hairstyling products. How about Fructis or Pantene? ME ---

Looking through the lawyer section of the phone book, I found an Ann Forest Burns (A. Forest Burns). Wonder if she specializes in arson cases? And speaking of lawyers, would you rather pick one with the last name of Candoo or Loosmore? They’re there, but not in the same office… ---
