I had to show my eldest and my daughter both how to use a garden hose to clean the fins on their heat pump units. They were completely choked with debris, spider webs, etc. Whether they continue to do that a couple times a year is another question. ---

You can spend 10 minutes with the hose in the springtime, or an extra $250/month in cooling bills all summer. Or year round if you live in the desert. Seems pretty self-critiqueing to me, but lotta folks still can’t see it. ---

I also had to point out to my eldest some years ago that he had plants growing in his gutters, most likely little tree-lings, and that a roof replacement would eventually (and prematurely) cost him many thousands of pesos, not to mention the possibility of water intrusion into his attic crawl space. It causes me physical pain and mental anguish to know that my kids, the children of someone whose career in part was in facilities maintenance and management, are too dumb to own houses. ---

Maybe “too childish” is a better word. I see that in my wife’s kid. The world ought to be easy and maintenance-free. Everything ought to be of long life, then disposable and replaceable with little to no effort. The kids just can’t / won’t accept that the world doesn’t respect those oughts. There’s a reason they coined the pejorative term “adulting”. Being an adult wasn’t any easier in our era. We just didn’t expect it to be. And get off my lawn!!! ---

Oh, don’t get me started on grown-ass kids not taking care of shit. Mr Rebo and I gave a truck in VERY good shape to my son. Yes, GAVE. It had about 110,000 miles on it, and Mr Rebo religiously maintained it. Fast forward two or three years and son threw a rod because he rarely changed the oil, it had a “small” leak and he let it GO DRY!!! “Oh, I put a quart in last week, I think…” Jesus H. Christ. The kid is the laziest MF in the history of lazy MFs. Mr Rebo took it back, put in a new engine and some new tires, and we should make a profit of a few thou when he sells it. Son is on his own. He can drive his girlfriend’s car until she dumps his sorry ass. I am SO pissed at him. ---

I have to petition the owners of the subdivision to remove the (baby) trees, and I can’t remove the weeds until I make an appointment to remove the trees. Might as well do it all at once. No I haven’t the faintest clue how to do it myself. When I moved in, it was done by management because my husband’s family owned the place. Then it transferred owners and I’ve gotta figure out how the hell to take care of my yard. ---

A few years ago, a man in police custody in Tacoma died while in police custody. It’s really shitty and from everything I’ve seen the cops should face severe prison times for murdering someone. Now, why am I posting this here? Well, the trial for the cops starts on Monday. It’s happening just down the street from my main office in Tacoma. It is expected that there will be protests, possibly even riots. My agency is sending out instructions to us on what to do if things escalate (barricade doors, stay away from windows, and so on). I absolutely need to be in the office on Monday. I am not looking forward to that. ☹ ---

Sigh. Anyone here who wants to rag on me for this, please don’t, I been crying on and off tonight. This nice man I’ve known for years, we always ate at community dinners, 2 years ago I finally gave him a chance cause I knew he was interested. It somehow fizzled out, but we remained friends. Recently it seemed to spark up again, and he suggested I come atay with him for the weekend. He used to live few blocks away, now at least 7 miles. I was happy( finally, a decent guy!). My intuition felt…off somehow. He called a few hours ago saying he was interested in me, but this may not work, as he knows I’m vaxxed, he says whenever he touches someone who has been, he gets sick. 2 years ago we touched, and I was vaccinated 3 years ago. I am just distraught.😢 ---

I knew that I was headed downhill one year ago, when I actually harumphed at the price of something in a store. I had done it mentally before of course, but this was verbally, and in public. I’m a little bit proud that I pulled it off so perfectly. A harumph is a level of difficulty above a scoff. But I have scoffing down cold, so, well, you know. But the harumph surprised me, I didn’t expect it, it just sort of happened. Does anyone know what comes after harumphing? Or is it better not to know? ---
