There is some kind of “event” happening right now a few doors down that involves endlessly shrieking females. I’ll cut them some slack because it’s a Saturday night. From the pitch of the shrieks I would assess a relatively young age, which gives me hope that the respective Mommies and Daddies will soon remove them to their respective domiciles, where they may or may not continue to shriek, but will be mercifully out of my earshot. This is, incidentally, the same household that last summer set up a Bouncy Castle in their back yard. I’m beginning to wonder about the wisdom of moving to this neighbourhood in my capacity as an aging curmudgeon who greatly values tranquility. ---

I did realize this morning while I was checking the settings on the new phone that, while I had transferred all the apps and files from the old phone to the new, I had never activated the phone number on the new phone. So I did that today. Then after calling my landline with the new phone I called a friend and asked her to call my cell phone to make sure I was getting calls on it. Another minor annoyance; when the phone goes to sleep the brightness resets to minimum. Can’t figure out why. ---

Now that I’m finally back from vacation …a hearty FUCK YOU to the walking piece of shit in Concourse C of Chicago O’Hare who accosted my mother and me as we got off the plane while wearing masks. Sure buddy, I’m “violating your constitutional rights” because I want my face covered while riding in a pressurized tube with a bunch of hacking, sneezing plague rats. 🙄 I really hate what this country has become. ---

On the last flight I was on, I wore a mask. As part of the safety briefing, they said you could wear a mask or go uncovered BUT we should all respect each other’s choices and not fight or argue about it. ---

A very mini-rant for today. I quietly and without fuss unfriended someone on farcebook. He’s relatively young, somewhat evangelical, posts a lot of anti-vax and anti-Biden posts on his personal page (which is his right and stuff I am happy to ignore) but this is now starting to bleed into a group that he created and is admin for. The group is music-related and according to the group rules that (presumably) he set up, political and religious posts are unacceptable. He and his mother both co-admin and contribute to this group, both sent me friend requests which I accepted. Now that the tone of the posts and the group has become something I don’t wish to associate with, I left the group and unfriended them. He messaged me on Sunday asking why I’d unfriended him, saying he wasn’t aware he’d done anything against me. I replied politely that his religious and political beliefs were the complete opposite to mine and I had decided to jump ship. Apparently in his eyes, that was a shitty thing to do (his words, not mine) and a stupid reason to unfriend someone. Bear in mind we’re in very different age groups, we live in different countries and we have never met. I am still grumpy because he was unnecessarily rude to me, and I’m such a nice person! 🙂 ---

I once mentioned - in what I thought was a very gentle, kind way - that the urban legends my aunt kept forwarding to me and asking me to print out for my mom (who didn’t use the internet at the time) were not accurate. My aunt unfriended me on Facebook and cut off communication with me for over a year. People sure do love their glurge! ---

I met some friends for dinner near the city last night. As we were looking over the menu, they offhandedly mentioned this restaurant has been shut down for food poisoning multiple times. I said, “Maybe I should order my burger medium well.” “Nah. They tore down and reconstructed the whole thing and have all new staff. You’re good.” I’m not good. ---

I usually just click the “see fewer posts” for posters who post non-political glurge, but who are otherwise friends. How many photos of flower arrangements and old-timey gowns can a person look at? Another friend posts literally hundreds of photos that I can’t relate to and have no desire to page through. I’ve only unfriended a couple of people. My brother’s bitch of a wife is one of them. I rejoiced when she was hit by a truck in a hospital parking lot. Sadly, she recovered. I don’t know why I ever friended her in the first place.
