# Time to pit the Taliban again - killing vaccination program workers

Perhaps a naive question: but do any imams ever issue "fatwas’ aginst this type of murder?  
apparently, its OK to authorize the murder of authors and cartoonists, but killing people who are trying to prevent a crippling, deadly disease? What was that…religion of peace?

It the Taliban who have decided that they want to make a political point with their childrens’ lives.

Actually, AFAIK, many clerics in Pakistan have condemned these killings. However, I do not know if this condemnation came from the influential imams or extended to the issuing of Fatwas. Also, I’m not entirely sure Fatwas have quite the amount of power some people assume they do. I rather think that Fatwas act as convenient authority sanction for shitty behaviour than the cause of such behaviour in the first place. **AK84** would be better placed to comment
