Yeah, I really enjoyed her _Saga of Pliocene Exile_.

> Fritz Leiber’s _The Big Time_ is his first Change War story. What if mysterious powers called Snakes & Spiders are fighting a war through all space & time–& enlisting humans (& aliens) to do the fighting? _No Great Magic_ is another story in that setting–which I read on its first publication in _Galaxy_. Both available [here](http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/25421).

“No Great Magic” is a great story - in the 1980s I bought a collection of Leiber’s “Change War” short stories (everything but “The Big Time”). Another good one was “Try and Change the Past”

So it’s time traveling?

I like to think of it as a timeless thread.

There’s a sequel, _All in Good Time_.

> Andre Norton had a couple of books dealing with time travel, but I’m not at home so I can’t look at the titles. _Time Traders_, maybe? They were definitely of the “one way trip back in time radically changes the future” variety.

_The Time Traders_ (written in 1958), _Galactic Derelict_ (1959), _The Defiant Agents_ (1962) and _Key out of Time_ (1963). (They’re available from Baen in two volumes, _Time Traders_ and _Time Traders II_.) It’s not a one-way trip - there’s quite a bit of travel back and forth. There were three sequels written much later, with co-authors, but I didn’t like them nearly as much.

Nobody’s mentioned _Napoleon Disentimed_, by Hayford Peirce, yet. It combines time travel with crosstime (alternate history) travel, with (IMHO) hilarious results.

And there’s the “Agent of TERRA” series - [four books](http://randall120.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/forgotten-books-agent-of-terra-series-larry-maddock/) by Larry Maddock, beginning with _The Flying Saucer Gambit_ (which apparently was originally written as a Man from UNCLE story, then revised into a time-travelling-secret-agents tale).
