Put **Verrain** and I down as maybes. There’s a possibility that will be the weekend my dad & step-mom will be in town but, as they haven’t firmed up their plans yet, I’m not sure.
But a chance to go on a cemetary tour… you better believe I’ll do everything in my power to try to get them here some other time!

By then, I will be living 4 blocks away from Green-Wood. We almost got a place directly across the street, but we feared waking the dead (seriously-- it was too quiet around there for our liking).
If I like the looks of you all, I would be willing to serve up some tea and crustless watercress sandwiches at my place. But only if I like the looks 'aya.

I love cemeteries too! In fact, I’m just beginning to work on a story about [Cave Hill Cemetery](http://www.cavehillcemetery.com/). The only famous person I can think of at the moment who’s buried there is Col. Harland Sanders … but there are many luminaries there interred.
I grew up across the street from a cemetery; I can’t decide if this gave me great insight into the human condition … or just a warped sense of what’s entertaining.

I’m really getting hyped about this; I have so many pictures of Green-Wood in books and now I get to see for myself. It’s better than Graceland! (Graceland Cemetery in Chicago, of course. What did you _think_ I was talking about.)

Well, I wouldn’t want you to miss Florence. Is there a deadline on RSVPing? I wouldn’t mind trying to get back again. I’m very fond of graveyards. When I was very young my family would take there Sunday constiutional at the local cemetery. And somewhere in the world there is a picuture of a six year old bete tap dancing atop someones monument (and can I just say now, whoever you were, I’m really, really sorry.)

I dunno—why don’t you e-mail them through their web site and maybe get a fuller list of whose on Tour No. 5, on May 18?
By the way, there will be a number of non-Brooklynites going, so we’ll probably meet somewhere convenient in Manahattan and my friend Michael (of Bensonhoist) will act as our Sherpa, getting us “safely” to and from Green-Wood.
I’ve asked Ukulele Ike if he wants to come along, maybe bring little Banjo and Pianola, but no word yet.

Just a short update passed along from Eve.
It appears that the platen on the Smith Corona she uses to access the boards has gone out of alignment, and she’s having some technological difficulties posting at the moment. (It was really a disaster, inky ribbon spooling out everywhere, springs and gears flying into the air, and don’t even ask about the key basket.)
Anyway, she wanted me to tell you all that the trip is still on, weather permitting. If you have any questions, post them here or e-mail me, and I’ll pass them along to Eve.

Inexplicably lost my SDMB access for a few days—actually it was kinda nice to get that chattering monkey off my back . . .
Anyway: those of you who already know how to get to Green-Wood can meet us at 1:00 (p.m., not a.m.!) on\*\* Sunday, May 18\*\*, inside the **Ninth Avenue Gate at 20th Street**.
The rest of us will be gathering in Manhattan somewhere for my Brooklyn-bred friend Michael to lead us into the wilderness. Exact plans have not been made yet, but we’ll meet somewhere around 11:00 or 12:00, to give us plenty of time.
