From the first night we put the little one in her own crib in her own room. We created a schedule for going to bed that has changed slightly over the past 15 months. We still read her a story each night (Good Night Moon), plus 2 or 3 other stories depending on her sleepiness. She also sleeps with a sound machine to create some white noise.
Till about month 9:
Either in a sleep sack or wrapping her like a burrito. Story time, then nursed till she was drowsy. In bed by 715PM.
When she started to get teeth, we introduced brushing teeth. This is when I stopped nursing.
At 630 she gets an evening bottle. At 715, she/we brush her teeth, put her in a sleep outfit (or sleep sack but now she knows how to unzip), read story and put her to bed.
My husband tells me I’m strong willed - but he tells me I’m stubborn too Her morning naps now she’ll protest like nothing else, but after 45mins of crying she’ll go down. I wait for her to cry it out, with some comforting, but I know my husband runs in more quickly than me. Those first 3 months they say you can’t spoil the kid enough, in fact they need it - but I’m not a doc, only a mom!
But those first couple months, especially the first couple weeks seemed like all she did was eat and sleep. I SO miss those days where I could take her in the bed and just take a nap with her and not worry about her moving around. It was until the 5/6 month mark that I found I could really mold her schedule, and it was more me molding her to schedule. Shifting times in 5-10 min increments.
Good luck
I have absolutely zero direct experience with this, as the total number of nights that my three children spent in the crib (a really nice crib, too) is about 4.
However, my sister swears by the Miracle Blanket. Basically it’s a blanket with arm holes for ease of swaddling and allows you to get a really tight swaddle. My niece loved being in this thing and as a bonus it seemed to help with her colic also.
Anyway, just thought I’d pass that along in case it helps.
