I had to make him stop and get things right anaesthetic-wise. Oh, a friend of mine and I decided it would be good to get it done at the same time so we could recover together (and receive twice the attendant sympathy from our wives). I made sure he was the first one in. His anaesthetic experience was worse. We joked (much) afterwards that the doc must’ve had to pay for the stuff out of his own pocket. ---

I usually have canned around but I don’t think they’d work real well in this case. Heavy object lifting won’t be a problem; the remote control only weighs a few ounces. So we’re going to have to have a bunch of sex to clear the pipes? Good thing I’m taking a couple of weeks off in December. I’m appreciative he’s getting this done; I don’t tolerate hormonal birth control methods very well (basically, they work by turning me into a bloated greasy-haired bitchy zitty screeching harpy with whom no one in their right mind would want to have sex) and it seems like barrier methods and creams always end up giving me yeast infections and general itchiness. It’ll be nice to go gaily into the fray bareback with no worry about unexpected bundles. ---

I suggest turning his pre-surgical shave into a fun game. Reccommended mood: dominance. I suggest turning the first episode of totally unprotected sex into another fun game. Reccommended mood: submission. YMMV ---

My fiance got snipped a month or so ago. The procedure went fine, but he started feeling sore about an hour after. We went home and he put frozen peas on the area and stuck to the couch for the next two days. I just hung out with him and did the couch potato thing. It was actually kinda fun, (for me anyway, haha). I cooked him a nice dinner and babied him a little. After three days he was pretty much back to normal. One week and we were back to having sex normally. ---

It’s a simple enough procedure, really. I drove to the hospital, had the procedure, got a coffee in the hospital cafeteria afterwards (it was scheduled quite early in the morning, and I didn’t have time for coffee before), and drove home. Spent the next day or two on the couch watching TV or reading, or at my desk surfing the Internet. I didn’t feel as if I really needed those two days of doing nothing, but took them anyway. They were a nice break. My doctor mentioned the frozen peas, but I didn’t feel as if I needed them. Good time of year to do it though. I was chatting with the doctor and the orderlies about football throughout the whole thing. Don’t know what I would have talked about in, say, springtime. ---

I got snipped 15-ish years ago. Total non-event. I was a little tender for a couple of days, and I think I probably used 3 of the fancy prescription pain pills I got on the way home. I went to work the next day & other than walking a little bow-legged, it was a normal day at the office. I’d have needed a couple days off if my job had involved physical labor or climbing or lifting. ---

Thanks for the good advice, guys. We may end up having to push this back until after the 1st of the year; Christmas is coming and we’ve had a few little fiduciary fuster-clucks to deal with, and now his doctor wants him to go in for a sleep study 'cuz he thinks he may have sleep apnea. (I’m one up on him there - I sleep with the man and I _know_ he has sleep apnea.) I’ve been informed that the vasectomy is my Christmas present. Along with a blender. Woohoo, worry-free sex and pina coladas! ---

I got snipped 6 weeks ago. Found out on Wednesday that I am now a free-fire zone, so as soon as the wife is fully recovered from the childbirth, I imagine a lot of sex. Of course, I also imagine I’m 10’ tall and bulletproof. I got snipped on a Wednesday, spent the rest of that night with ice on and sipping a drink, took a Vicodin the next day 2 times, and walked gingerly until Sunday. I was pretty much fine after that.
