Tivo has discontinued offering lifetime subscriptions to new subscribers. Instead they have gone to the dish model, by giving away the box in exchange for a commitment of pre-paid monthly service. I think my series 1 with a lifetime subscription just went up in value, although I have no plans to sell. ---

Is there any reason anybody would pay for Tivo rather than using a free DVR?
