TL;DW (Too Long Didn't Watch; I Hate, Hate, Hate Videos Replacing Text)

The deepest pit in hell is reserved for those who post instructional videos without any narration or explanation. Because when you actually do need to watch a video, those truly suck.

Usually there’s some annoying mindless pop or dance music in the background on these.

The worst are videos that are just a line of text at a time, with some shitty music in the background. It’s literally just text you are forced to read slowly while being tortured by bad music. Fuck whatever sadist comes up with that shit.

How about the ones where the text flies in from an edge of the screen, one word or even one letter at a time?

Even worse. :frowning:

My machine has this little thing that allows me to not be tortured by music. Like, if I want to see cats do headers off the counter or into the tub, the score/narration is of little interest or value, so I make it not be there for me.

Yeah there is always the mute button, so you don’t have to listen to it, but they’re being an asshole for putting it in there.

I remember a couple decades back when there was a tad of a fad of putting auto-play music on web pages. Seems to me the html coding at the time allowed the page to set your computer’s volume, which could be especially annoying. Luckily, it seems that that fad faded.

…and so on.

I can’t find the video online but Jimmy Fallon once had in his “Thank You Notes” sketch a thank you for web sites that have autoplay videos, for letting him play the game called, “Where the Hell is that noise coming from?”

This.

Besides, you normally leave the audio on when starting a video because you expect there to be useful audio content.
