# TNT's alienist was popular enough to get a sequel?

I watched some of it and couldn’t get past the character changes and the thread about it here only had 4 replies but just today I find this listed under " returning and new shows for the summer ": **Series** : “The Alienist: Angel of Darkness” **Net** : TNT **Premiere Date** : Sunday, July 26 **Time** : 9 p.m. based on the second book apparently … and people have already complained they’ve changed things … anyone watching it again?

with so many channels it doesn’t take really high ratings to get 2nd season if the costs are reasonable.

We enjoyed it. I’m glad to hear it’s coming back. I did notice changes from the book, but for the most part they didn’t disrupt the flow of the story.

what threw me off was they changed kriezler … i expected a small guy with graying hair with glasses and an accent … not a big irish guy …

Laszlo Kreizler is being played by Daniel Brühl, who is a Spanish-German actor, not a “big Irish guy”. Which character are you thinking of?

It’s been a long time since I read the novel so I don’t know what changes the OP is referring to.

My GF loved it. She is delighted that it is returning. Me, I watched a couple episodes with her, then decided it wasn’t worth my time. Good thing we have two TVs in the house.
