Thankyou everyone for sharing my feelings for all the emergency workers in New York and in DC…I know that every Firefighter, Paramedic, and police officer in the world that can read this thread are most thankful.
Thanks everyone
I just took a dozen bagels to our local fire station, with a sympathy note.
Anyone who is looking for something to do and feeling helpless, I’d recommend you write a note to your local police and firefighters. Tell them you appreciate the risks they are willing to take every day, and you’re sorry for the loss of their professional colleagues in this tragedy.
They get too little thanks.
I’m a municipal employee, with a lot of friends in police & fire. The dazed, confused, and heartbroken looks they’ve been wearing on their faces the last few days makes me want to just cry, every time I see one of them in the hall.
You and your brothers and sisters are in my thoughts and prayers.
Something I didnt realise until I was on the FDNY website

on Aug 28th of 2001 FDNY lost its 778th firefigher in the line of duty. Thats over the 140 year history of the department.
140 years, 778 firefighters lost. In one day FDNY lost almost 1/2 as many men as they have in their entire existance…
I’ve given up hope. He was last seen on the 34th floor of the south tower. His eldest daughter (of 3) will make her Confirmation today. He will not be there to see it. His wife may not see the youngest - she’s losing her sight (retinitis pigmentosa, IIRC) and has already surrendered her driver’s license. Another fireman around the corner from who I do not know is missing too. Whatever torment I could think of for the scum who did this is woefully inadequate.
Goodbye Orio.

I wish I was home to do it in person.

names and faces of those who have fallen, atleast confirmed sofar.
I also read that 190 firefighters were promoted within the department on Sunday…One hell of a way for job advancement
