I forget the exact German translation (I’m sure someone will be here soon with it) but it refers to joy at someone else’s misfortune, usually with the implication that the misfortune was deserved. Like finding out that your ex has developed testicular cancer. ---

Oh, I dunno. I might definitely have had that feeling of schadenfreud. For instance, when my former-best-friend-turned-husband’s-new-woman had to have her wisdom teeth out, and they broke her pretty little jaw doing it. Did she deserve it? No, what she _really_ deserved was to be put out on the street with two small children by a man she trusted and loved with all her heart. But you take what you can get, karma-wise. Some day, after a few years of healing, Deadly might be able to be more charitable, but her reaction right now is perfectly understandable. Wow. That poor kid’s gonna be messed up, with parents like that. As for the…well… He’s not a man, is he? Okay… As for the sniveling wormshit of an ex-husband, I suspect that he will get his. Not because of karma, but because it seems that he’s stupid. Why do I say this? He decided to screw around with, then wed, a woman who would screw around with a married man. He decided to screw around with a woman who was/is a co-worker, possibly costing him his job. He decided to screw around on his wife, who could, potentially, make his life miserable in a divorce proceeding. He decided to make a baby with this woman, exposing him to possible child support payments at a later date (if, as I expect, the marriage doesn’t, ah…_work out_). So yeah, I have a sneaking suspicion that he’s gonna wind up an unhappy guy. Boo hoo.
