Y’know, I’m not voting in this one. The antecedents and assumption are just too goddamn stupid, including many of those in the answers. 1. I don’t have trouble aiming in turbulence. 2. Raise the goddamn seat when you piss, you lout. 3. I sit sometimes, when I feel like it (gassy, poopy, or just plain tired). 4. If I feel like sitting, and feel the seat is dirty or risky, I wipe it off. 5. Standing up EVERY time you piss is a matter of masculine pride? Seriously? What are you, 13? 6. Learn how to construct a poll. Excluding the middle is NOT part of this, and neither is lumping the middle in with one of the extremes. ---

For me, it would depend on the degree of bumpiness/turbulence there has recently been on the ride. If there’s been little reason to expect that my aim will be interfered with, I’ll stand. If it’s bumpy enough that I can’t trust my aim even with feet planted and shoulder braced against the wall, I’ll give the seat a good cleaning with TP and soapy water, then sit. ---

I picked “Men can’t aim properly even when the target is STATIONARY!” I don’t have this probem personally, but I see little puddles in the bathroom at work every single day. ---

I stand, but then I’ve never missed that I recall. I’m willing to take the apparently small risk of that happening and if it does I’ll clean up after myself. ---

Well, judging by the poll so far, it appears I am in the minority. Alas, part of me had wished otherwise but it is comforting to get an idea of public opinion on a matter I haven’t been able to gauge before. Some responses would indicate there are some strong feelings out there (as my personal experience suggested). Honestly. People, first of all, if you don’t clean up after you go, You Are Pigs. One European custom that seems never to have made it to the states is that when you are done, YOU clean it up. Right then, Right there. YOU. There’s a brush under the tank. Know who its for? YOU. After you pull up your pants & before you wash your hands. YOU. And before you open the stall to leave, it needs to be clean. Every. Single. Time. Once thats established, I don’t care if care if you bullseye urinal cakes while swinging from a light fixture trapeze. ---

Anyone who thinks their masculinity is directly tied to how they urinate (whatever is most logical or comfortable) probably doesn’t have much else to back it up. Pop a pink shirt on them and they’ll start lactating/cruising gay clubs. ---

For some reason, I cannot empty completely seated. And it gets worse if I am confined to bed. Twice while in a hospital, I was supposedly confined to bed, but they made an exception for my peeing. The alternative was catheterize me, which they don’t like to do (too much chance of infection), so they let me stand and piss in a bottle. Incidentally, my wife has taken to bringing such a bottle when traveling by train (the toilets get foul very quickly on Amtrak) and I discovered that I like to use it too. ---
