Just because your dog is an ASSHOLE and can’t play with other dogs does not mean that I have to put my dog on a leash in a courtyard that the property manager has given permission to be “off-leash”. This is Chicago. My dog’s running time is all he has. I don’t appreciate being bitched out. ---

Not sure the whole story since you didn’t elaborate, so I’ll comment on what is here. “Hippie” is going to earn scorn. You are master of the dog. You should know dogs are animals, and any other dog may act in unexpected ways. Protect your dog, then bitch about the other dog. A posted “free reign” area doesn’t keep your dog safe. Now, if she has an asshole dog that isn’t the kind that should be around other dogs, you have a point. Deatils, details, details. And if her dog is that bad, she should be shot. The only unruly dogs are those that have no training. A Poodle can be every bit as deadly as a Rottweiler if it hits your jugular. Pit Bulls are sweeties (the Little Rascal’s dog was a Pit), if it’s trained well like any other dog. ---

I am a bit confused due to lack of specifics here. But I will confess to owning a dog that is an “asshole.” Ok, she’s actually a big sweety. Loves all human beings on the planet. Loves most dogs too. It’s just that some dogs fail to understand that she is the leader of all dogs she surveys. Those dogs that fail to recognize her as the queen she is and charge towards her will be made to submit. And since my dog is a Great Dane Newfoundland mix, that forced submission can be painful. If I’m walking my dog on a leash and an unleashed dog charges us, I will do all I can to avoid either dog getting hurt. But finding myself in that situation really sucks. ---

… **lobstermobster** , do you perchance live in Roger’s Park? When I lived there, there were loads of crazy hippie ladies with badly trained dogs, who had no concept of dog pack dynamics or control. Also, offer more information so us responsible dog owners can all chime in with righteous indignation. ---

whoa sorry about that one guys. I was drunk when I did that first post. No specifics seemed necessary in my mind. Anyways, my dog and my neighbors dog are really good about staying in our courtyard where they have permission to run and be off leash. There is a gate but it doesn’t close all the way but laura and I stand in front of it. So this woman in like head to toe hippie garb and dreads comes walking by with her boyfriend (non-hippie) and this horrible snarling dog who stands outside our fence and just snarls and taunts my dog and my neighbors. For the first time in their little doggie lives they decide to run out after this dog (wouldn’t you?) At this point the hippie woman was like “WHO THE FUCK HAS A DOG OFF THEIR LEASH…CHICAGO CITY ORDINANCE STATES BLAHBLAHBLAHIMABITCH…” and Laura and I gather our dogs and apologize. At this time she has a coat over her dogs eyes and is like "my dog cannot even SEE another dog or he will hurt it. I had my dog in my arms already so I just responded “this sounds like a personal problem” So then we get totally bitched out for endangering our dogs and other dogs by letting our dogs just roam free and I’m pretty sure something was mentioned about us being in our 20s and being stupid and irresponsible and that we needed to learn to use leashes as well as train our dogs. I simply told her that I always use a leash on the street. her boyfriend the whole time was like “dude…they just ran out of the building” and mouthed “i’m sorry” at the end. So thats the story. I was just angry and decided to rant about it here. In the end its not that interesting I guess. That dog was stupid though. So was she. and ugly. the dog and the hippie. ---
