To the jogger who ran out in front of my car this morning:

Sidewalks are also uneven leg breakers sometimes. Depends on the sidewalk.

Not to hijack a perfectly fine rant but here in FL drivers can turn right on red and they do, even if the WALK signal is lit up. I have learned that I must look behind me for right turners before I cross less someone turning right on red, drinking their coffee and talking on their cell phone run me the fuck over.

I always wait for the WALK signal, even if there are no cars.

Some mornings I walk to Starbucks. Never, ever, get in the way of someone turning into Starbucks. They can’t see anything but cofffee.

Personally I reserve the bird for those fuckers who won’t wait to turn right on red even though I’m 3/4 of the way across the intersection, stranding me in the middle of the street while I watch the seconds tick down on the walk signal. Those guys always get the finger from me. Doesn’t a red light mean they have to wait for me to finish crossing before turning right?

Last summer I took a flying spill over a ridge in the sidewalk, I still have the scars nearly a year later.

I only run in the park now, I’m fortunate to live near enough to a big park with running trails.

I’m glad you don’t think I’m a prick.
The jogger I encountered may not be a prick most of the time either, I guess, but he did a dumb thing that really pissed me off; therefore, I reserved the right to call him one for a day.

Hijack away. Seems there are things folks want to get off their chests, and far be it from me to stop them. Besides, I’ve cooled down enough in the meantime that I’m no longer angry enough to be of much use in a good Pit thread. Y’all carry on.

I understand that. But can a runner/jogger explain why, when given an option of a pedestrian path and a bicycle path- both made of the exact same material, do some runners chose the bicycle path?

Yes it does. If you have the WALK signal, you have right of way. Period.

I feel your pain, though, because when i lived in Baltimore i would encounter exactly the same thing. Drivers there simply pay no heed whatsoever to pedestrian crosswalks or to WALK signs. Here in San Diego, at least in the neighborhoods where i live and run, drivers tend to be pretty good about observing pedestrian right of way.

The other one that gets me is given the choice of many parallel roads in a grid system, why choose the busiest one? And then wear black!

I’ve never seen that happen, but maybe they’re just pricks.

Here it’s to avoid the herds of walkers strung all the way across the path.
(there are some portions of the downtown pathway system that are seperated in two - one intended for bikes and one for walkers/joggers.)
Running tends to give me “pathway” rage. I understand that it’s a lovely day and you are out for a walk with three of your bestest buds, but could you not at least walk two and two?
