Booker T & the MGs – great band, played on numerous great 60s soul records. The Wrecking Crew is a pretty good choice, too. The Motown house band seems less fun, somehow. ---

Good to see some love for my namesakes. I think there is a lot to be said for being a studio musician and getting to play lots of quality songs, as opposed to cranking out the same chestnuts year after year. But the studio guys do miss out on the energy of a live show - so my vote is to replace Ron Wood. You get to join the the traveling circus that is the Rolling Stones, play all of those crazy stadium gigs, still have time to do some one-offs with Rod Stewart - or the great gunslinger tour with Bo Diddley about 15 years ago - and not have the pressure of being Mick or Keith. And think of the job security. ---

I would like to have been a member of a band/group who had a mad flash of very lucrative shag-and-drug-tastic fame and then disappeared. Possibly this might mean I wish I was Andrew Ridgely. ---

I’m a multi-instrumentalist (I mostly play guitar) who’s been writing and recording by myself lately. Based on my somewhat limited experience with performing and recording with bands, I can say with confidence that I hate working with lazy and/or temperamental musicians. Past: Frank Zappa and The Mothers. Really, who else would have been more hilarious to tour with? Plus, I admire a serious musician who can get shit done and not waste time with drugs and other distractions. Present: Les Claypool. He’s not as absurd as Zappa, but weird enough that I’d fit in.
