Okay, so GrizzWife says that I get WAAAAY more periodicals than do most adults. Well, she’s probably right. At home, I subscribe to… Payboy Maxim FHM Wood American Woodworker Fine Woodworking This Old House (a gift) Mother Earth News Plus three travel-industry publications that I receive at work becuase it relates to my profession. The “men’s-type” magazines I get because I like their humor, photos, etc. I can do without their “style” type sections, though. Woodworking mags I get because building from wood is a hobby of mine… soon to be getting out of control, though. And Mother Earth News because… well, I’m not exactly sure. But I sure like reading it! Man, I sure wish that National Lampoon was still published. I sure do miss Annie Sprinkle in the Foto Funnies! ---

Car and Driver and as soon as I get around to it, Road & Track again. I like cars, Motor Trend is to in to trends (SUV’s, excessive rice), believe it or not, that dont suit me. The rest of the magazines are to euro-centric or to specific of a genre. I think I’m still getting a couple of computer gaming magazine’s even though I ALWAYS throw away the renewel slips and have been for 3 years. They keep coming and I keep reading them. I recently stopped getting Playboy. Never found time to read them. Yeah, I said read. dead0man ---

1Paper: The Economist - most information crammed into the least space. Three times as much coverage as Time or Newsweek, for the same price. Cook’s Illustrated - great recipes and even better explanations. Not snobby. No foodie porn, i.e. lavish photographs of impossibly perfect creations. Online: Wall Street Journal - 1/3 the price of paper, same information, plus 30-day archive included. Consumer Reports - like having the archives online, so I don’t have to clutter up the place with back issues. That’s it. I often read other magazines when they’re around, but usually it’s only for one or two things so it’s not worth subscribing (or, most of the time, even buying a newsstand copy). ---

The New Yorker–I like to think of myself as a sophisticated eastern snob, on top of the latest serious stuff. I suppose if other mags were not available for FREE in the local library, I’d have to subsribe to The New Republic, The Nation, and Christian Science Monitor (not really as magazine), to know what the hell was going on. ---

Only two currently… **O by Oprah** & **Jane** (Bet you can guess my gender) 😉 **O** because I find her to be a positive spiritual influence personally. (YMMV so please no snide remarks, ok?) and **Jane** because I got so tired of the “Lose 10 lbs. in a weekend!” and/or “Please him with these sexy, secret tips!” articles. Hmmm, what about topics like political issues, health, how to have sex that pleases _you, the woman_ etc. So, I got ride of Cosmo & all its ilk and got **Jane**. I see mostly men have posted so far so, please disregard 🙂 I think the She Dopers will understand. ---

[Utne Reader](http://www.utne.com/) because they compile a lot of good articles together. I’m kinda getting sick of it, though; I don’t think I’m going to renew. Just subscribed to [The Sun](http://www.thesunmagazine.org/) because they sent me a free issue, and it’s filled with so many beautiful things, and is advertisment-free. I’m planning to subscribe to [ReadyMade](http://www.readymademag.com/) because I’m a crafty girl. ---

Cook’s Illustrated-great for technique Fine Cooking-for the fancier stuff Consumer Reports-to attempt to not buy so much crap Science News-weekly updates on science and technology which helps me keep my brain from becoming total mush I get to read Discover, Scientific American and Archaeology at my Mom’s house. ---

**National Geographic** - entertainment, pretty pictures **PC Magazine** - it’s been coming for 13 or 14 years, and I find that I’m losing interest **World Oil** - entertainment, editorials **The Leading Edge** - professional society subscription **Geophysics** - professional society subscription And I buy, but don’t subscribe to, a lot of magazines such as **Air & Space** , **Flight Journal** , **Aviation History** , **The American Spectator** and **National Review**. ---

**Old Cars and Parts** -best old car magazine published. **Road and Track** -won a free 1 year subscription, just got my last issue and I an not going to renew it. **Computer Source** -local free computer rag, I pay $10 a year to have it delivered to my home. **Becketts NASCAR** -to keep track of my diecast collection. ---

I found one called (I think) _FiberArts_ that I might get a subscription for. ---

Time–to try and keep up with whatever is going on. It would help if I kept up with reading it. Discover–I used to get Omni but they discontinued that. It’s just interesting. I’m not too sharp with science and math stuff, but I figure if I read an article 5 times, I may eventually “get it”. 😃 And I get some automotive tools catalogs. ---

The only magazine I currently have a subscritipon to is _Natural History_. I started the subscription back when S. J. Gould was still doing his “This View of Life” column (indeed, I started the subscription _because_ of his column), but continued the subscription after he stopped because the other stuff was interesting, too. I used to have subscriptions to _World War II_ and _Military History_ as well, and I plan on resuming those when I get the chance. ---

**The Economist** , because it’s so very informative, and because I’m a big fan of free trade. Also, most American newsmagazines tend to ignore the rest of the world. I’m thinking of subscribing to a bicycle magazine or two at some point. ---
