Huh. Other than the stealth brag, what is the issue? Someone reaches out to let you know that they think you’re an interesting person and would like to be connected. That is a bummer alright. I should have noticed sooner. Oh wait. I couldn’t have. I have none of those. My SDMB friending has occurred via Facebook, which I admit I kinda hate (FB, not the people - the people rock). I shall now friend everyone except that one guy whose name escapes me. And test the theory whether having friends within SDMB environment indeed sucks the proverbial hiney. ---

I use it because it helps me find posters I enjoy and like the posts of, like if I were to go “Hm, I haven’t heard from [poster] for awhile! I hope they’re okay. Let me see if they’ve been active lately and/or catch up their latest posts in case I may have missed any.” I guess it’s partly because I treat it as a way of keeping up to date on posts with posters you actually are a fan of posts by. Sometimes I’ll periodically search those on my list to see if they’ve posted anything new that I hadn’t happen to see when it was active. Sometimes, too, I’ll add posters because I’ve agreed very strongly or emotionally with something (even just one thing) they wrote or because their personality is that where I feel them and I might get along well and actually be friends if we knew each other in real life. It can be any of those three reasons as to why I’ll add a person, mostly. This tended to result in me having a ton of SDMB friends of course, but I’m okay with that. ---
