I’ve gotten friend requests from virtually every person on these boards, and more besides. But, I deny each and every one. The mods even try to bribe me with promises to turn on the social-sexual features in my account if I would befriend them. I turn them down, too. One reason I turn down all friend requests is that there is a size limit as to how many friends you can maintain in your profile and just my daily requests exceed that limit (I believe its 750,000). Would it be fair of me to accept some friend requests and not all of them? Would not the ones I don’t choose feel jealous…jilted…perhaps even suicidal? Yes, they would. It’s happened before. The other reason I don’t accept friend requests, frankly, is because it’s beneath my station to do so. As an analogy, would it be appropriate for, say, Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of Her other Realms and Territories, Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith for the UK to let’s say, knight a band of poop flinging chimpanzees? Got that image in your head? Now you know what I have to contend with in dealing with the SDMB masses. I get it, I really do. My posts are so inspired, that, well who _wouldn’t_ want to be friends with the author of such godlike words? If I weren’t me, I’d certainly long to be friends with me. In fact, the only posts I even bother to read on this board are my own; all others simply bore me to tears. (No offence). ---
