It’s not too late until she’s dead. Iran has a history of letting up on death sentances when international attention is focused on the accused. They use them as examples of the infinite mercy of Islam. Concerned dopers can find ways to help from Amnesty International or by googling Hajieh Esmailvand. ---

The day is pretty much over and, as far as I can tell, this woman is still alive. Iranian news sources suck for getting an idea as to what’s going on in Iran, but none are reporting a stoning. It truly is important that people raise a fuss over this. There still could be time. I hope that if anyone finds out more information they will keep us informed. I am glad that you posted about this; at least it reminded me of how important the work of organizations such as Amnesty International is. The real question is, why doesn’t this sort of incident get attention in the American media? I think most people in America would be outraged if they knew this was going on. ---
