This was precisely my response when I got my first glasses as a kid. Trees had leaves! Leaves that I could see without climbing the tree! I spent hours that day just staring at things I couldn’t see before. I had laser surgery a few years ago, and I can see properly from the moment I wake up in the morning, but I still stop to marvel at mundane things sometimes. I remember what it was like to not be able to see them.
(I do kind of wish the surgery had been able to replicate the effects of the first set of contacts I got as an adult, though. The doc and the lens company somehow managed to make lenses for me that corrected my vision to between 20/10 and 20/15. It was a strange and awesome time. I kept getting distracted by the texture of the paper in books I was reading.)
