And I’m quite excited about it. Bizarrely, I’ve never done this before. Anyway, I’ll be giving updates over the next 12 hours or so on my progress. It’s now 10.50am and I’m up to three.
You’re welcome to keep count too, if you like (not of mine - of yours, of course) and make this some kind of poll. In that case, I might have to ask a moderator to move it, but I’ll sit tight for the moment.

I’ve never done a daily count but I’ve ofter wondered, if it were all added together, how many years of my life have I spent emptying my bladder?

I too am anxious about this. I know my pee quota is normal but I worry dearly about DH. He pees maybe 3 times a DAY. That can’t be normal can it??

But you’re not measuring the volume? Or monitoring intake of coffee, tea, soft drinks? At the least you could measure the amount of time it takes. We want sound data here. Statistics. Charts.

Yeah I’d be fascinated on a report not so much of how many times, but how many total minutes. Then you could extrapolate it out and figure out how many days in a lifetime are spent on this activity.
THAT would be science!

I was being investigated for a potential kidney thing and twice had to carry out a 24-hour urine collection (of my own urine, that is: I didn’t go round door-to-door asking for samples…).
The hospital provided the receptacle - helpfully in an anonymising paper bag - and all I had to do was collect every drop of wee during a 24-hour period, beginning with the first slash of the day. I chose to do it on a Sunday, so that (a) I didn’t have to bring the bottle to work and (b) I could drop it off fresh at the hospital on my way to work on the Monday morning.
I think I collected just over a litre on both occasions. And my kidneys were pronounced OK.

Oh yes!
**Madd Maxx** , so pleased you picked up on my deliberate use of ‘on hand’, rather than ‘at hand’ or indeed ‘to hand’. When one’s little jokes get noticed like this, it makes it all worthwhile.
[Drum roll] And the answer, in raw terms, was ten times. I drank two cups of tea (I’m British, after all), two cups of coffee (one at work made in a filter with espresso beans, as I’d run out of “Blue Mountain blend” beans; the other was my evening milky coffee, made with milk heated in the microwave - very handy this, no more milk boiling over on the stove and having to clean the mess up when it cooled - with two and a half teaspoons of Nescafe Gold Blend), 0.5 litre of San Benedetto natural mineral water “Sparkling”, and around the same amount of that orange lucozade drink, whose precise name escapes me, as I chucked the bottle in the bin and can’t copy out the label. Oh yes, and yesterday I treated myself (because I was so bored, **Rand** ) to a large strawberry shake from McDonald’s during lunch-hour. I had a large bottle of Heineken (600ml, I believe) when I got home. Oh - and some soup for dinner. What flavour? No idea. Vegetable-ish, I think. Made by the amah. About one and a half rice bowls-full, I would guess.
Scientists, stick that lot in your pipe and smoke it!

I fear he may be injuring his bladder holding it in. I think it’s below average. But he’s a big guy, maybe his bladder size is above average?
