Happy Birthday! And speaking of AARP, at some point about 10 years ago or so, at which point I was around 28, I managed to end up on some marketer’s list who thought I was of retirement age and started receiving some magazine about Golden Years or such. ---

Happy day after birthday! I’m 56 and have been getting AARP invites for at least a decade. Bastards. When I turned 55, I realised a qualified for the 25 percent senior citizen discount at my local hair salon. \ I take advantage of it too. ---

When I was a kid the same local radio station that we all listened to for snow closings would announce birthdays and anniversaries for anyone who took the trouble to call or send in a postcard. The announcer (Bobby Lloyd) would make a slightly bigger deal about your birthday if you were “changing the front number.” Happy new front number. I shall also have cake in your honor. Lemon, I think. ---

Thanks, everyone. **TruCelt** , every half-centurian is different; I can only suggest you ask your brother for ideas. I told all my friends this time that I didn’t want or need any presents.
