# Today was taco day in the cafeteria at work!

Once in a while, the cafeteria has make-your-own-taco day, which is a major event in my little world. It costs 31 cents per ounce or something like that. Today they even had fresh jalapeños instead of the crappy canned ones!

God, I want a taco.
Or an egg salad sandwich. I don’t know why; I don’t even like egg salad. But I don’t get off until 9 and I’d cut a bitch for a taco and an egg salad sandwich.

I haven’t had egg salad in a while. I did just have a nice sammich, though, with salami, provolone, and red onion, among other things.

Fish tacos are my favorites, when they’re made well. The cafeteria does have fish tacos every once in a while, but they suck. You can make a beef or chicken taco out of crappy ingredients and still have it taste pretty good (e.g. Taco Bell), but if you botch a fish taco, the eater’s taste buds are in for a world of hurt.

I hate to admit it, but taco day in the cafeteria increases my job satisfaction at least 30% for that day. And we don’t even get to make our own!

It was taco day at Casa Rebo today. Thay were excellent, along with leftover pintos, and some queso a la Rotel… Yum!

Man, they’ve really gone up.
Nice thing about tacos is that it doesn’t matter if you buy the finest ingredients and make 'em from scratch or toss pesos at a grimy street vendor in Matamoras, it’s still the same bite of heaven. Like cancer and sharks, tacos are somehow always, always free from affliction.

God, Friday, when I went home, I really wanted an egg-salad sandwich. And I was just obsessing about it and I was like: ‘Man, I’m gonna make one of those.’ So, Saturday I went out and got, like, a dozen eggs and I boiled them all and then I just spent, I don’t know, probably three hours… like three and a half hours making the mayonnaise and the onions and paprika and all the accoutrements. And then by the time I was done I just really didn’t feel like eating it. And I didn’t have any bread.

I’ll never be able to settle down and make a life for myself in Japan; they don’t have any Mexican food.
