# Today's George H. W. Bush Ceremonies Question

I noticed a Major (2 star) General was by the side of George Bush at every ceremony/casket move. Anyone know who he is and what he is to the Bush family?

Just a guess, the commander of the Washington D C military district and therefore in charge of the funeral’s military aspect.

The two-star was Major General Michael Howard, Commanding General, Military District of Washington.

He was the guy in charge of the entire state funeral.
