> And as to never finding real live [well, actually dead] corpses of them… I happen to know that I have deer, turkeys, pheasants, a mated pair of golden eagles, owls out the wazoo, foxes, racoons, opossums and feral chickens, but I have almost never seen bodies when out walking around in the woods…as a matter of fact, the only dead deer i have actually seen are road kill. Pretty much everything else gets disassembled into meals by other creatures, or fed bugs and gotten coverec by leaves and other detritus. I expect you would literally have to hit upon the dearly departed yeti within a matter of 24 to 48 hours to actually find much of it at all.

Yes, but historically, people have come across dead deer, turkeys, pheasants, etc. I haven’t heard a single story of anybody stumbling onto dead yeti.

I have to admit to looking at some websites about Yetis and I can’t help but find the stories of sightings or near sightings and investigations, compelling. There’s one where someone has made a body cast of the beast sitting down which is particularly interesting.
I have issues with people who are “taken in” by organised religion, making me think that there are a heck of a lot of people prone to belief in something that, to me, appears rediculous. At least those who believe in Yetis have actually had a ‘sighting’ whatever that sighting was!

At first I found this estimate to be somewhat implausible–after all, the typical description of Bigfoot is of a creature weighting easily three or four hundred pounds, and even the scavengers of the African savannah would be hard pressed to reduce a carcass of that size to invisibility within two days. But then, we don’t know much about the habits of Bigfoot; who is to say, then, that this species is not evolutionarily specialized to cannibalize their own dead? This simultaneously explains the absence of physical remains, and also accounts for the profound odor commonly attributed to Bigfoot. Even the lack of bones can be explained in this manner, since it makes sense that such a large omnivore would recycle such a ready source of calcium… It’s all starting to make sense now.

Thanks for reminding me about Bigfoot. He and the Loch Ness Monster don’t seem to get nearly the amount of publicity that they did back in the 1970’s, and yet they’re so much more charismatic than the Big Headed Aliens, IMO.

So what about Yeti dung? I don’t think there have been any found, and yet (i) it would be quite big and fairly prolific.

Actually, I have to correct myself here.

In the 70’s, there was a travelling “show” called “The Creature In Ice” that hit our local mall in Erie, PA. We paid some fee, and saw what appeared to be a dead yeti in a block of ice. Pretty cool to someone who was less than 12 years old!

I read decades later that it was fake (big surprise, I know).

That thing doesn’t look anything like a bear a deer, or a vagrant.
