# Toilet rolls

- As of 2009, Americans were using 36 million rolls of the stuff each year, something on the order of 15 million trees.\*

That figure seems far too low. It has to be a mistake. My guess is they use that amount in a day. That would be around 1 roll per person per week, which seems more reasonable. And do they really only get 2 rolls out of each tree? Or maybe it’s 36 million _tons_.
