So I’ve challenged one answer, and duplicated another… 1. What’s the relationship of Galadriel to Elrond? (fairly easy) 2. Do Balrogs have wings? (snerk…heehee) 3. What were the cruel runes written on the Ballhog’s chest? ---

Don’t you recall the great Flame wars of 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2003. The carnage was epic in proportion. 😉 37: Galadriel is Elrond’s Mother-In-Law and a distant Cousin many times removed. 38: There is no sure answer, I am in the Wing Camp. 1. 1. Yes. ::D&R:: FWIW, I’m also in the they-had-'em camp. The LOTR passage about Gandalf’s confrontation with the Balrog in Moria seems pretty clear to me. I’m willing to concede, though, that the wings may be only vestigial, and that a Balrog might not actually be able to fly (otherwise, why would it fall, fall, fall to the bottom of the pit)? Just my two cents’ worth. ---
