Just got off the phone with NTTA. They were very nice about it and were quite willing to delete the $25 admin charges. I will stop fuming now, but I still think they can avoid much customer unhappiness by simply taking that extra step and matching up name and address rather than just plate numbers. It would save us all a lot of hassle and unnecessary stress if that letter from them said something to the effect of: “We notice that this license plate number does not match what is in our database, but the name and address does. Please update your profile at www.ntta.org if this is your car and you would like to avoid future notices and an admin fee of $25 for each occurance.” Now wouldn’t that be a lot nicer than sending me a nastygram with excessive fees and implying that I’m a criminal? Yes, that’s exactly what their letter does and is probably what made me the maddest.
