Cruise is too old to be flying fighters. Heck, he’s probably too old to be anything but an Admiral in the modern Navy. And there ain’t no way Maverick ever became an admiral. ---

I bet the plot will follow every cliché in the book… a retired Maverick is forced into one last mission and whatnot. The plot for Hot Shots 2, basically. ---

I’d guess that Cruise is going to be an instructor, and that there’s going to be a young hotshot who has something to prove involving drones. I’m also guessing the young hotshot in question will be chesty. ---

They need to cast David James Elliott in this sequel. He looks so much like a fighter pilot. He was perfect in JAG. Make him Maverick’s best friend. James may need to hit the gym and drop 25 lbs. But otherwise he hasn’t changed much since Jag. ---

Gurantee the plot will be old school fighter jocks vs new age drone pilots vying to see who are the superior air combatants. Expect most of the movie will be friendly adversarial dogfights where human pilots fight drone planes except for the final battle set in an actual war. ---
